The Penny
Kind of a weird little incident today. I was cleaning up the floors in my Runner, prepping for sandblasting, and found a penny under some scale. The penny's a 1972, my car's a '73 but built in '72. Wonder if it's been there the whole time. I must be bored today, lol.

Yeah you will see that from time to time. I have found year correct coins inthe glove compartment of some cars I've had.
Hell, shine it up and keep them together. would be a shame to break them up after all these years.

I think I'll do that.
Before I started sandblasting last weekend, temptation overcame me and I fired the car up for the first time since I put it in the garage. The gas in it is at least a year old, but it fired after two tries. At this point I had only driven it into the garage off the trailer. Temptation further overcame me and I threw the bucket seats into it (no nuts yet, kinda challenging to drive) and took a friend for a very illegal and very fairly loud test drive. I must say, the engine's not stock, it's got quite the lope, but I have no idea what cam the previous owner put in. Boy did it feel good though. You have to understand, I parked and sold my last Mopar in '93! My friend was practically giddy, and is already planning dragstrip excursions, lol. Can't wait to see how it feels with fresh fuel.

Speaking of finding interesting things in old cars, my dad used to own a 1970 Ford Maverick (pardon the Ford story!) and he pulled back the carpets and found a styrofoam coffee cup from the Ford assembly line. Printed on the cup was the Ford logo and something to the effect of "Remember guys, Ford quality is job one!". A little ironic since the cup was accidently left in the car!
Too bad I didn't find such an item in my Road Runner!

Another off brand story.....
A friend of mine tints windows. He had a lady bring her brand new Caddy
to him to get it done.....there was a ratteling in the car the dealer could
not fix...she had it in and out for service several time in the few weeks
since she bought it....anyway he had to remove the back seat and rear
speaker panel to tint the back window properly....
There behind the seat someone on the assembly line had welded a wire
with a stack of washers strung on it.....
and get this there was a note stuck on the rod that read
"So You Found It"...
Surely that was this persons last day....lol

Turned out to be a nice thread, thanks guys!
I forgot to mention that I found one of my car's For Sale signs down inside the driver's door. I think it's from two owners ago. Obviously it slipped down into the door and either they assumed someone swiped it or they didn't feel like yanking the door panel. I'm kinda tempted to call him and see if he has any of the car's documentation as I have none. Feels wierd to do that though.

If the Numbers still good...... why not? I'm sure anyone who has owned these cars would like to know it is in good hands. Knowing that , if they can't give you the documentation, they may be at least able to fill you in onthe history .

I bought a '70 Super Bee from a guy that was going through a divorce and moving to Vegas with his new girl in like three days. Funny thing is, I too had a '70 Super Bee at the time, so I was hesitant, since my car was a project also, and funds were minimal. The price kept getting cheaper and cheaper and eventually scored it for $300 with Air Grabber and everything. Drove it home two blocks with dual coat hangers to keep the doors shut since the door jambs were cracked. It was primer, but originally Lime Light. Anyway, the point is, there was a baggy in the ash tray full of marijuana! I had never tried it before, but I was young, and very curious. Best $300 ever spent!
Also, every Mopar I've ever bought has had sunflower seeds spit all over the top part of the dash. Must be a '70s thing?

Reminds me of a time we rented a cabin and found some loose leaf in a ceral bowl in the cupboard. It wasn't there when we left.
Brings to mind my buddy and I use to cruise in his 383 68 Polara 2 door in the 70's and after running low we would scrape out the glove box and smoke a bowl of what ever crumbs we found. I gues we burned some lint along the way once or twice.

I'll add my two cents (no pun intended
) on funny things found in cars.
When I took the heater/air conditoning plenum out from under the dash, when I turned it over, something fell out.
It was a diaper pin! One of those old ones that had a blue plastic end on it.
My daughter was a year old when I got my Roadrunner and apparently a little pair of fingers, playing with that diaper pin, stuck it in one of the air conditioning outlets. There it stayed for 33 years!
Best part...she lives just down the street from me now and has a brand new 2006 Charger. That diaper pin is hanging from her rear view mirror among a few other of her "fond memory" doo dads!
