Hey Mark,
Don't tell anyone on here, but I've owned a few Chevys myself, including one I SHOULD have kept--a '69 Chevelle SS 396 4-speed convert. It was Marina Blue and black.

Anyway, our Runners typically rust low on the quarter panels behind the rear wheels, and around the wheel opening. Even the corner in front of the rear wheel opening can be a trouble spot. Those are all places to check for filler. Also low on the door corners is a common place for rust.

Since these cars are unibodies, be sure to check for solid frame rails and floors. Trunk floors and interior floors are reproduced but are a real pain to replace. Rusty subframes can be the deathknell for a Mope. Check for rust around the hood hinges in the engine bay, another typical rust spot. Finally check the cowl for rust--around the master cylinder and along the seams are typical rust-prone spots. The more solid the unibody the better off you are!

Finally, a real Road Runner in what appears to be comparable shape to this car would most likely set you back more than $10 to $11k, BUT, a Satellite will never have the value a real Road Runner or GTX will have. And that's a pretty big "but"! Unless this car has some serious unseen issues it appears to be a pretty good buy. Like I've said, you couldn't build one like it for that. Good luck!

Mark,
One other thing too, on the driver's side fenderwell close to the battery in the engine compartment there should be a fender tag. It will repeat the car's VIN and give codes as to the options the car was originally equipped with. If the fender tag is still on the car, write down everything on it and post it here. We can tell you exactly what the car is, what options it came with, and when and where it was built.

Later, if you get the car, we can get you going on searching it for the broadcast sheet (build sheet to Chevy guys).
