air grabber project

Post by bandman » Wed Jul 19, 2006 5:54 pm

I am going to post some of my pictures for my project. I will keep a couple up for a little while (what ever I am allowed). Then I will take those down and post more. This is from the beginning step by step.

Here I marked off the hood and prepared to cut the hole.

Dimensions on hood:
from front 15"
from rear 21.5"
the hole should be 21" from front to back
from the center the hole should be 18"
at the front the reinforcement brace should hang out 1.75"
rear 4 holes should be 7/8"

Here I taped off the hole (I didn't feel confident cutting free hand).

The semi finished product (no stud holes at the time)

Here is one of the first studs in the bubble from Stinger Fiberglass.

Note the stud is in fine side up (straight from stinger). The stud would be too long if I tried the other way.

From this picture you can see I took a peice of cardboard and laid the airgrabber bubble on top of it. Then I took the cardboard, put it on the hood and marked it off. From there I just drilled the holes. With a little more work I laid the bubble on top of the hood and it slide right in. If I were to learn from my mistakes and do it again, I would probably use paper instead of cardboard. I think it would have less room for error.

Sorry, we may have lost some pics in a move we made in hosting the site. I'll address the issue with Dave.

He didn't have those pic's attached to his message. They were linked from photobucket. Looks like he took those pic's down.

Sorry,

I will put the pictures back up. I don't know how to attach them to the message, but I will put them back as soon as I get back to photobucket.
