71 RR/GTX Automatic with A34

Post by Mike 71X » Tue Mar 13, 2018 7:17 pm

Afternoon all. New to the Nest, thank you for all the great news and information. Can't wait for my car to be back on the road after reading all this stuff. Anyone have an Automatic A34 car or know of any around? I'm curious about how many were made and might be out there. Also curious about what kind of drivers they make. My Dana is long gone, possibly destroyed in an accident before I owned the car. Part of me wants to put one back under there some day but I've been told that would be the end of long afternoon cruises in the country. Of course I'd have to find one first.

Hey Mike,
Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. Sounds like you have a pretty cool drive train there. There were around 123 Road Runners that got the A34 Super Track Pak option, and around 187 GTX's. I would put the Dana back under there if you can find one, but maybe throw some gears in there that will be a little easier for cruising. Good luck!
Scott.

Those numbers are for both automatic and 4spd cars. I have 4sdp road runner coded A34, but the 4.10s have been changed out (still has the original dana).
AKA Butterscotch71....the road runner nest is out to win you over this year!Image

Thanks for the info! I'll assume of the 187 a majority were probably 4-spd cars... I like the idea of changing the gearing out. Easier said than done, still have to find one! :) Tony's Parts had one a year or so ago but other priorities for the money at the time.

It really seems a little challenge to find the parts nowadays. Hope you will find them soon.

I'm not sure if mine is an A34 although it has some of the earmarks of one, 4 barrel - 4 speed - dana 60 4:10, my car is Windsor made and they didnt code the fender tag with it and dont even ask about my build sheet or I may cry.
