The skinny on Grave Yard Cars

Post by sdweatherman » Mon Sep 08, 2014 11:25 am

Just passing this along to everyone. Looks like they really mucked up Rex's car. Rex started a Facebook page to "highlight" all the things he has found. Here is the page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1449534368651553/

Rex, I hope you can get all of this straightened out.
Scott.

Unfortunately that isn't as rare as it should be. I used to work for well known power tool company ( red colored) and they had Jesse James redo a car to run on their 28V batteries. What a HACK job! The body work was peeling off the car in chunks only a year or two later. and it was WAY too thick in the first place. Famous doesn't exactly mean quality. I always wondered how well that 71 satty that got GTX stickers, a hemi, and painted marker lights came out .
4th generation B bodys- there is no substitute.

Any sort of other area to view this for those of us that don't Facespace?

Thanks!

For those that don't use FaceTube, the group over at http://www.dodgecharger.com has a thread started. Several pics of the poor workmanship are on page two of the thread. My favorite couple of pics are the bottom door gap of about 3/4" combined with nasty paint run, and the pic of the leaf spring bolt installed backwards with no bolt. There likely are more places on the web that this story is showing up on. The word is spreading quickly.

Yes, a very interesting read indeed. Looks like (I assume) Mark has responded from GYC, and gives a nicely detailed account of his side of the story. Mark has admitted that some of the work that was done was sub-par, and wants to work with Rex on a solution. He has requested a detailed breakdown of what needs to be done, but has not received that yet. Looks like the ball is in Rex's court at the moment.

Yeah, I haven't read Rex's page, but from nearly all accounts, everyone seems to be looking for more than he is owed.

No doubt that GYC dropped the ball and they let an inferior product go out, but like you said Mark seems very willing to try and make it right. I don't think what he's asked for from Rex is out of line in any way...in fact, I think he's being very generous in his offer.
