My bad, I meant M31 molding. Living in so. California generally we don't think in terms of rust when it comes to holes in the body on a car that spends most of its time out of the elements in the garage when it's not being used. But after seeing what moisture can do in other parts of the country. Especially on a car that sits outside most of the time. I could see where clip holes definitely could be a problem.

Consider yourself lucky, although my car came out of the bay area and didn’t have huge rust issues to begin with, was meticulously resealed way beyond factory levels during my recent resto, is currently garage kept here the Pacific Northwest, only been caught in the rain once; I can’t wash my car without nightmarish visions of all that rinse water getting into all of the clip/screw holes, nooks and crannies and areas I couldn’t get at with some kind of rust protection/sealant.

I hear ya. Which is the reason I never use a hose when I'm washing my car. Naturally it takes me longer using the sponges cloths, and a couple of buckets of water. But I don't want to risk getting water in places that over time can do damage. When I was young I used to wax my car everyday. Yeah, it's work. But not if you love your car!
