mopar nats theft
Has anyone heard anything new about the air grabber air cleaner taken off of show cars? I was there before the incident and then I was walking by as the police were interviewing the owner. Some people!

Re: mopar nats theft
My brother saw a guy in cuffs with police taken out.
It appears from what i read on Moparts they caught the guy.
Of course there may be more than one but it seems like he was the
one who took the 6 pak air cleaners and other stuff.

That's what I like to hear. I guess anyone dumb enough to steel parts off of cars at a car show, might also be dumb enough to try to sell them to people in the swap meet.

Re: mopar nats theft
I just got this month mopar collectors guide and they had an article abouth the thefts that occord this year. I guess a guy tried to steal 2 of there pin-up girl signs, they caught him. some of the hot item stolen from the swap meet was, early b body trim, steering boxes and hood scoops. YearOne had a wiring harness stolen from there display. First Place Auto Products also had parts stolen. and ya the aircleaners stole from show cars as well as floor mats.
they also said they recently heard a guy went to a carlisle event in a six pack car, he parked the car and walked around the swap meet, while being followed by a guy with a walkie talkie raidiong his every move while another guy stole his carbs!
can you imagin walking up on some scumbag taking parts off your car at a show? if I caught someone doing that to my car he'd probably be spending time in the hospital.

Re: mopar nats theft
Quite a few of us from Mid Ohio Mopars bring cars to the Nats.
We decided to spend shifts staying with the cars and all parking together.
One of us will be watching and staying with the cars at all times.
We know each other and can tell if the wrong person is messing around.
We will provide our own security if need be I guess.

That really makes me angry that people do that stuff.
We all work hard for nice things, and people still think they're being slick. I guess it's good that we're tight and looking out for one another. The more we keep an eye out, the more we can keep this crap to a minimum and make sure these guys know what they're doing is uncalled for and shouldn't go unpunished.

It used to be about the only place I felt safe with my car was at a mopar show. It seems we have a different element coming to the shows now. Unfortunately, this will only serve to further decrease the number of old cars that attend these shows...and people wonder why they see so many new challengers at the shows now....

Re: mopar nats theft
That's why when I see someone working on "their" vehicle at a show I always try to take interest In what they are doing. Maybe stand there for a few minutes because not only am I truly curious In what they are doing,If It's not their car you will eventually find out.
(if they ask for help,be cautious though, wouldnt want to cluelessly help someone steal.
)
I second Clone Runner!Someone doing that to my car would definitely get a beat down.
Also just think how many people saw this guy committing this crime and didn't think anything of It.
