I don't have any numbers specific to export cars, but considering there were only about 80 sunroof 71 road runners build for the US, I find that very hard to believe. In fact, I have trouble believing a lot of things that that guy says.....but that's another topic.
So let's look at the numbers:

total US 71 runners: 13664
US 71 runners with sunroof: 82
percentage: 0.6%

export/Canadian 71 runners: 554
supposed export/Canadian runners with sunroof: 40
percentage: 7.2%

So he's stating that more than 7% of all Canadian and export cars were built with a sunroof.

In my 71-72 B body database I have about 650 runners and GTXs for 1971. Out of all of those, absolutely none of the Canadian/export runners are coded for a sunroof, and only one Canadian and one export 71 GTX is coded for the sunroof option.

I would think the majority of sunroof or for that matter air-conditioned runners would be for California climates etc. Plus most Canadians are thrifty when it comes to spending money on cars,

My SSP came from Santa Barbara and has working air when I take it to shows the local mopar guys always point that out to me.. SSP's where not common where I live.

I had one in the late '80s. Unfortunately I didn't write down the serial number of it. Yeah, I know - boo! Had too many projects at the time, so I sold it. Last I saw of it was on its way to a collection of cars in a warehouse in New Mexico that needed to be restored. I tried a couple of times after that to try and buy it from the guy. "No, I'm going to restore it " - someday; Yeah, Right. It was white, black canopy top, black C-pillar stripe, black stripes around the tail lights and rear valance, fty rear wing & chin spoilers, black rear window louvers, black interior, buckets, console automatic, AM/FM stereo with console cassette, power windows, 6-way driver's seat, head light delay, chrome trim around the pedals, tuff steering wheel, cruise control, air conditioning, tinted glass, 15" rallye wheels, turn signal indicators on the hood, M23 molding, 3-speed wipers, just chrome bumpers, but they had the rubber protection strips on them. Best yet, was it still had the broadcast sheet showing all of this originally came on the car. Most of it was missing by the time I eventually got it. I used to leave notes on the car when it was brand new. "If you ever want to sell this car, call me." Naturally they never did. Just a 383. But at the bottom of the Broadcast Sheet it said something about being a show car. No, it didn't have fty exhaust tips. Couldn't have those on a big block in California due to smog regulations at the time. Man, that car looked good when it was new.

Well that explains everything......the fact that he wanted to buy your car should be enough confirmation of it's value...............I just love guys like that. I met a guy that would always say that my car was not a desireable car and most people just scrapped them in the 70's....go figure that he would follow his comments with.....how much would you HAVE to get to sell it. Everytime he opened his BIG MOUTH I would pull out the old car magazines and show him the add stating "CAR OF THE YEAR"

All I know is that it is getting harder and harder to find any of these cars in really good condition.

I track all 71-72 Plymouth B bodies including sunroof cars. At this time, I have at least fender tag information for 9 road runners and 6 GTXs for 1971.

not to change the subject too far, but does anyone have any idea how many RP sebring plus cars came with sunroof? i own 2 right now and have always wondered how many ssp's came with them. i've seen your stats for gtx and RR's.
thanks and great site...

I'll look, but I don't believe I have totals for sunroof Sebrings. Dave might have this.
