Introductions... again

Hello again, I am finally going to start on the GTX project again. It's been in storage for a couple of years waiting for me to find time and money, I"ve finally found a little of both. More time now, anyways! Kids are busy in school again.
I am trying to decide if the car will be lemon twist or sassy grass.
The interior is green, it kind of limits the choices. I do like those two colors.
anyone else use any other colors with the green interior?
I am also shopping for a black vinyl top, who has the best top?
I look forward to all of your help, I have a lot of parts in a lot of boxes and little baggies, I might need some help identifying some of them!!

Black or white would also work with a green interior... And while I LOVE my white RR, these cars really look GOOD in black!

Every car does look good black. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to paint this thing black.

My car used to have the same green interior as yours. .. it's not much work changing it up (for me, white).

there is alot of green in there! do you change everything, dye some things? It seems the console and the front seats would be a challenge. My plastic is ok, but the upper panels will have to be changed. It will be hard to place that "green" order when I really don't like the color. I was trying to follow the "kiss" rule (keep it simple, stupid!)

There's a paint out there that will stick to vinyl surfaces and flex with It.No cracking or flaking.that would be a good option to take into consideration.

Not sure of the name or who makes It though. :(

I cleaned the dash with mineral spirits, sanded it down a tad bit just to score up the surface, then I used Duplicolors satin black engine enamel, then clear coated it with Duplicolor's Engine Enamel Clear Coat. It looks great.

SEM makes a great vinyl paint and it's easily found at Year One. Eastwood has it as well, if I remember, and it's not as expensive as you would think. Some here have had great success with Fusion. Do a search for Fusion in the search engine here and it should link you. The only major investments would be the carpet (I've gone black--about 120 bucks) and the headliner(I've gone white with that, the old one was green and it was nothing more than rot and bare threads anyway, about eighty bucks).

When I was detailing and rebuilding lear jet interiors, we used a rotary polisher with a bristle brush attachment and worked the vinyl and leather with a simple solution of dawn dishwashing liquid and water, more dishwashing liquid than water. Thick. You'd work that into your vinyl/leather to open up the pores and to clean it. and I mean work it in. Then you'd wash it down. After it dried, then you'd prep it for the dye/paint. It makes for cleaner adhesion and it works well. SEM dyes were used a lot. Same principal on the car seats, and it works well.

Save your attaching hardware (screws, clips).. .and it's not that expensive if you do the work yourself. And not that big of an investment.

I like the way it looks in the picture. Reminds me of my 1st car... it was a '71 charger 500... same color inside and out as yours.

I did buy new carpet for it when it was road worthy a few years back. I bought black.
I will have to buy seat covers and upper door panels, I will prob get those in black too.
Looks like my exterior color is limitless now!

Who has the best vinyl top?

Year One, and Legendary are both places I'd look for vinyl tops. My preference on the 74 Satty Sebring was to get rid of the halo vinyl altogether. I'm glad I did. . .when I removed the vinyl, I found a huge rust problem on the passenger pillar that I had to cut out and fabricate a repair.

Mopar covered up a lot of filler (and an unfinished top) under that vinyl, but it was worth grinding down the trim studs, sanding, sanding some more, sanding a lot, and priming to get it looking good. It's time consuming, but cheaper than a new vinyl top. Just my two cents worth.

I couldn't begin to imagine the rust problems you guys have with your full vinyl tops.

I have more than I even want to fix and I only had half a roof covered. :(

The top is off, it was off when I got the car. I had some issues with rust, not quite as bad as Serious did. They have been fixed.
I like the looks of a full vinyl top. and I really don't want the labor to make it paintable!
You can see one hole and some filler in the attached pic. I have cut and replaced it with new metal. The other side was not as bad.
