Yep, BIG time sprint car fan! Used to follow them all over the midwest, with Knoxville being the prime location. I grew up in Burlington, Iowa and (would you believe?!) moved to Burlington, NC in 1986. Now live in Graham, about 1/2 hour from Greensboro.
Miss Iowa? Not that much, sorry! I miss my family and friends and sprint car (and midget) racing. Everything here is SO overpowered by the NASCAR juggernaut that it's like that's the only form of racing there is or something. Thankfully that might be changing somewhat and hopefully the local dirt tracks will make a comeback as a result.

Re: New Guy here
Man I miss the sprints. . .we had a nice little dirt track at the fairgrounds in our hometown growing up, and there was nothing like going to the county fair and hearing the sounds all meshed together.
Damn platte went up across the lake and they sued the county Fairgrounds for noise pollution, and forced them to shut down.
I mean, what idiot is going to build a platte across the lake from a fairgrounds/race track and then have the balls to sue them for noise pollution? WTF?
Dumb asses.

it's the reason Road Atlanta will probably close in the next 10 years.
stupid people built neighborhoods with HUGE houses out there, then whine about the noise. Ummm...the track was there since 1971...I'm sorry your realtor didn't tell you about the racetrack in your back yard.

Unfortunately it seems the new home owners are winning these suits and NOT the race tracks who have been there all along...

I think its that way because the government gets more money from the home owners then it does from race tracks.Anything for more money!
