Carlisle Plans

Post by Dave » Wed Jul 08, 2009 8:46 am

Hey all!

I know a number of the Nest members are going to be at Carlisle. For those that are going to be in town Thursday evening, the MML is having dinner at Hoss's at 1800hours. We traditionally try to get a bunch of tables together in the one back room. Of course, anybody who would like to is welcome to join us!

Perhaps we should plan an RRN meal + meet & greet on Friday evening? Any interest?

As usual, my family and I will be based out of the MML tent (wherever they put us this year) all weekend. I'll probably be hanging out with Gary and Pam a good bit down in building T as well.

Hoss's at 6? Sounds good if we can make it by then... As I mentioned in the other thread, I'll be at the US Car Tool booth hawking my art. We're real close to the T Building, right on the end of the row. Look for my Art Signs banner and stop by and see us...

Dangit, you HAD to ask, didn't you? I haven't a clue. It's on the end of the row facing the building where the food vendors are. It's a great spot, sorta right next door to the T Building even if I don't know the number.

It should be easy to find - just look for the glare off Bruce's head. ;)

Bruce, if your girls all want to hang out with mine up at the MML tent most of the time, you know they'll be welcome up there. (Assuming we'll be up on the hill again like we were last time.)

So how about dinner plans for Friday? You two in?

Not sure where the girls are going to want to hang out. Melony, at least for a while, is going to be fascinated by all the cars and all that goes on. Not sure that Bobbie will be up to following her around with her little sister in tow though.

But Mel will also be cool with making some new friends! The girls have also talked about spending some time at the motel pool, most likely on Saturday.

As for dinner Friday all I can say is that we're on a REALLY tight budget--we've moved, built a storage building, bought new appliances, spent time at the beach getting married where we spent too much, etc, etc. I'm hoping I get at least ONE or two new jobs out of my time at Carlisle to help defray the expense! :D

Bruce: If you're that close to the "T" bldg, you should be able to get a good look at your next art project :D

This year was a change for me, spending more time with Pam in the T bldg. Bruce, we're excited about the project. Eric, Roger..always a pleasure(that transmission in yet?). Dave-I love being able to leave the car with someone as enthusiastic and more knowledgable about the history than me. Thank you. I have to apologize up front to the Nesters; next two projects are Dodges  :D

Sadly another great year at Carlisle is now in the past. As we were pulling out Sunday afternoon, Sam was almost in tears that we had to go home - not that I can really blame her. It's the highlight of our summer! Not to mention it was so cool to have Bruce's girls and my girls playing together - I know Sam loved it!

One of the highlights of the weekend was being able to have dinner with both Bruce and Eric. While we've all 3 been friends for years, it was the first time all 3 of us have had the chance to really hang out together. Gary, it's an honor for me that you would trust me to take care of Jet-X while you and Pam got to enjoy the show outside of building T. I really do enjoy telling the story behind it, and I'm confident that John Herlitz would have really liked it. As always, you and Pam have done an outstanding job on the car!

This year I wound up not getting nearly as many pictures as I have in the past, but really got to meet a ton of awesome people. I'll post the few I did take later today, but just as a bit of a teaser / jealousy shot, I'll add this one here. ;)

Oh, forgot to add - I got to chat with Steven Juliano for a few minutes on Friday. He's doing really well, and looked really good in spite of everything he's been though health-wise. Was great to see him out and about!
