Meet my ride

Post by Miel » Sun Dec 23, 2007 10:08 am

hello there,

I'm here on the forum for some time, reading alot of great info. I've been looking for a 71 RR or GTX for 4/5 years, in the mean time saving money and kept my eyes open. well in oktober I found him :D , it is a 71 RR 4 speed 383 and Sassy Green 8) (favorit color). Now it has a 440 with an automatic, it needs a resto but its a very hard car, I only need to replace some rear quarter parts. I'm planning to make it run for the road for 2008 but after that he will be completly restored (sandblasting and all that kind of stuff around it) I also found a air grabber and brought it, it has cost some money but its totally worth it. the car will be arriving at the 30th of december in the harbor of Rotterdam. so anytime soon I'll see the car again. well here are some pics and see for yourself.

and this is how he will be when I'm finished:

you'll hear from me soon

Looks like a great starting point. Will you be restoring the car to stock or keeping the custom interior? Sassy Grass Green is a great looking color on these cars!!!

if you know an adress where I can buy the lower quarter panels I'll buy them right away :D. but we need to wait some time and if they're not avalible soon I will pull my metal crafting skills out of the closet :P .

and today I discovered something even worse than that, I have removed my front window. tomorrow I'll post some pictures of it.

Cool car...I think that I saw it for sale in the states a little while back....That'll make an awesome ride! I know the wait for parts is a long one. Are you in the Netherlands? I'll bet you have the only RR in town!

That will be a sweet car, sassy grass is my all time favorite mopar color. It's a shame what some so called body guys try to get away with. My first attempt at body work 35 years ago, wasn't nearly as bad as that. As long as the sub frame is good it won't be too bad. Good luck on your parts hunt. Keep us posted.

I brought the car in november 2007 in NY.

well I need to replace my lower quarter panels so I started with the windows (quarters and windows are the only metal work that has to be done). and this is what I found, I thought it would be worse, the roof and the inner roof are intact its only the edge:

and this is after some cleaning.

I'm also working on a 4 speed and a rear axle, its a 18 spine hemi 4 speed :stirpot: and a Dana 60 3.54 ratio. unfortunaly my original 4 speed was gone years ago, but I'm satisfied with this 4 speed to 8) .

I'm going on a vacation for 1 week but after that I'll continue my work and keep you updated.
