if yours are beat up, i'd say paint them...mine are nice, but i've even considered shaving the drip rails off...kind of just a trough for rust to start in imo...however, i believe our cars should have a bit of chrome to separate ourselves from the modern plastic machines you constantly see today, who if there is chrome - it's plastic

I like the clean look of having them the same as the body color, but that does depend on the color. Black looks good either way. Shaved would be neat looking but could be a pain in the rain :) .

Not to hijack but is there a difference between the drip rails form a vinyl topped car opposed to a non vinyl one?

The drip rail moldings are the same whether it's a vinyl top car or not. Only the moldings around the rear of the vinyl top are unique to cars that have them...

I'd polish 'em out, fill in the dings with a resin filler, then use this stuff

http://www.alsacorp.com/products/mirrac ... odinfo.htm

and then coat it with the candy black for a black chrome finish that's the best of both worlds. ..
