73 RR Survivor with POWER ANTENNA

Post by Serious Satellite » Mon Jul 14, 2008 1:16 pm

This pic is of my bro in law--sister's hubby-- and his oldest daughter's fiance's father's unretored survivor RR he's owned since he bought it new in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

I posted to note two things: my bro in law is a chrome dome

AND

photographic proof that I'm not nuts when it comes to owning a 73 RR back in the day with power antenna.

I've been searching the net forever trying to find evidence that I'm not nuts and not wrong when it came to that option: mine had it, and this unrestored survivor has it as well. .. you can't refute the photographic evidence!

It's an automatic. When you turn on the am/fm stereo, it would power out or up.

I used to call it my Instarect. . . .

I'd take the power antennae's motor out and take it to an electrician and see if it can't be salvaged. We have an old Mom and Pop's radio shop and the guy rebuilt my Craig 8 Track and the Road runner horn. (yes, the Satty will have a roadrunner horn, but only as a secondary horn).

A lot of times it's nothing more than a soder. ..

meep meep.

2 years ago I bought one from a guy on ebay. It was advertised as a b body power antenna. It came with a switch that looked like a stock rear defrost/airgrabber switch but it didn't come with a bezel. The guy also threw in a c body switch as an extra. I asked about it here and someone told me it was not an option for the b bodies. I shouldn't have sold it. I will search my puter for a picture of the switch, I don't know if I deleted the pics. after I sold it. I think I read somewhere that the switch was the same as the rear tailgate window switch.

I wonder if the 75 and up Cordobas ect. had power antennas, and I wonder if they fit in the 73/74 cars.

Well, I saw a 72 Plymouth Fury in the junkyard with one, so I'm gonna snag it. I'd think that something like a power antenna would be pretty universal in the Plymouth world. .

I would not rely on the option tags for some things. I have a 73 RR with factory rear window defogger and it is not listed on my fender tag.
