there ya go for all the peeps who think a 440 car will top out at 110 like they do in video games(i stopped playin for that reason-accroding to the japs that made the games, their lil hondas will smoke a 440+6 cuda)...itty bitty 318 goin 135 no problem lol...maybe my pops will chime in...goin 140 in his slant six dodge lancer haha
All depends on the tranny and rear end. My '71 383 charger 500 had an auto and 3:23 rear end topped out its speedo. It was a dog under 50 mph but got up and moved over that. My '71 440 GTX with 4 speed and 4:10 rear end topped out at like 130 unless I wanted to try to push the rpm over its readline.
1971 GTX Autumn Bronze - 4 speed, Dana 60 4:10

Apparently there is a small vaccuum pump that pulls fumes from the tank and routes them to the bottom of the intake manifold to get burned up for emissions... I've had three shops tell me it's almost hopeless to fix and to take it to the dealership. It's a simple system of vaccum lines, but whatever circuit in the computer that tells the vaccuum to start pumping, (and it's only like two lbs of pressure) is faulty and nobody seems to know exactly why. The other sensors that trigger the pump are like little solenoids and they are fine.... so... I dunno.

Well it would do indicated 110 any way, the formula S Barracuda would do indicated 140. I don't know how close those soeedo's were back then but I mever got caught, he he.landon1 wrote:there ya go for all the peeps who think a 440 car will top out at 110 like they do in video games(i stopped playin for that reason-accroding to the japs that made the games, their lil hondas will smoke a 440+6 cuda)...itty bitty 318 goin 135 no problem lol...maybe my pops will chime in...goin 140 in his slant six dodge lancer haha
