Close, but not quite. You are correct that (as far as Eric or I have been able to document) there were no RL21x1 VIN'ed Satellite coupes produced. However, that doesn't mean that there weren't fixed quarter window coupes produced. They simply carried an RH23x1 VIN with the A93 coupe package. My parents had one they purchased new (a 318/auto car), and Eric and have documented a number of other A93 cars, including at least 1 383/4spd car.

As a related point in 71, the A93 coupe package cars would have come with a distinct grille ornament. Instead of the red white and blue emblem most people know - they came with an emblem (about 9" across) which simply reads "Plymouth". It was a 1 year only thing, as far as I've been able to document.

Personally I love Satellites just as much as I do the Road Runners and GTXs. That's why there's a 71 SSP in the garage next to Project Blue Bird. Whenever we get around to it, the SSP will be restored right back to her fender tag (yea, including the full green vinyl top), and not as a RR or GTX clone.

lol...well i have a fascination with hot rods, and the gto from xxx made my day with sidepipes...it wasn't planned, that's for sure...it had headers, 2.5"pipe, into factory mufflers and 2.25" tailpipes when i got it...but a muffler blew up...LITERALLY, cuz i was getting too much gas into my motor...so i straight piped it...then, i figured i'd turn them out at 45 degrees with big tips to look like the aar cudas....but someone STOLE my tips, so i bought sidepipes thinking it'd be easier...woulda been if i built all my bracketry instead of using theirs...they're pricey, but i got em on sale before they took the 200% increase in price...oh well...they do for now...i'll pry go to duals again whenever i get to making my car look like a satellite again...pry when i'm about 60 talkin bout hidden exhaust, b5 paint, white painted roof, blue interior, hubcaps, column shift if i can get parts, maybe even throw in a hopped up "warranty" 318 they sell now with 71 numbers on it...pry gonna stick with a 727 unless someone can convince me to go with a 904 8)

Exactly. Like I said, I don't think you'll ever find an RL21 vin on a 71. That doesn't mean however, that there wasn't a Satellite Coupe with the fixed quarter windows and all. They just all carried RH23 VINs and had an A93 code on the fender tag & broadcast sheet.

I will restore my car to a Satellite Sebring Plus when its painted again. It would be so easy to clone mine, plus my car is loaded with options. But a SSP it will stay.

I saw that "Plymouth" emblem on ebay for over a year! It was NOS, the guy wanted $45. I don't know how he kept it on ebay that long ($).

Here is a photo of a car with the embelm.

yup...looks a lot better like that lol...mine's a sebring, but it was painted roof, all the chrome available, etc. so it'd be a SWEET ride when done back to stock...really classy

may go a lil different though and add the satellite or the gtx pinstripes, pry keep the buckets, but add a buddy seat, and maybe possibly get the grille chromed - the silver looks too bland for me, but i'll pry just do silver lol
