Re: Pulleys!!!
I think the 4 groove would have been used with an AIR injection pump car. You should have a three groove setup. One belt for the water and power steering pump. Two for the AC and Alternator. remember to get a matched set of belts for the AC or you'll have one jumping off on occasion.

Re: Throttle Rod binding
We might be in business now. I took one of the spare throttle rods, bisected a straight section, threaded both cut ends with 3/8-16 tap, added coupling and jam nuts then elongated the slot at the upper end of the throttle rod by about 3/4". I now have full stroke of both the throttle rod and carbur...

Re: Throttle Rod binding
From the 71 Book on how to adjust the single section throttle rod... I may paraphrase here in couple places to save time, but most will be verbatim from the book. The purpose of this adjustment is to take out all the slop/ slack/ play between the carb lever pin and the transmission lever WITHOUT PRE...

Re: Throttle Rod binding
Ok.. first... "WONKY"? What side of the pond are you from? Now seriously. 1. That is a Performer RPM manifold .. correct? It appears to be because of the runner and the height of the carb, resulting in the steep angle down to the linkage. The "adjustment" to the throttle cable clamp is close t...

Re: Throttle Rod binding
I don't know the auto trans kickdown linkage all that well. But is the trans original to the car? My thinking is that the arm on the transmission might be wrong, ( too short) and that is binding up the travel length. A picture of the trans connection at the carb might be helpful too. Since there wer...

Re: 383 or 400....Which way to go?
Go with the 400. It is virtually identical to the 383 but with a bigger bore, ( even larger than the 440's bore). That bigger bore allows you to put in the bigger valves in the head and have better flow because the valves are not as tight to the bore as a 383. Now the 77 will have a low compression ...

Re: Can our alternators be rebuilt economically?
The guys are right on. If the Amp-meter is going to the high side that usually means the alternator is working and the voltage regulator is suspect or there is a high current draw on the system back to the battery. Since the VR case to ground is a very common issue, unscrew one of the mounting screw...

Re: A few updated pictures of the chicken
I love how low it sits!!! 24" to the top of the wheel well opening. Stock is 27 in front. Rear is stock height. I have to be very slow when turning coming off a curb of the tires catch the wheel well trim. But once on level ground no problems. I Used Magnum force tubular upper arms and set it for -...

Re: 440 Block Selection
From my understanding you will want to avoid the 76-78 blocks as they were thin wall bores and limited to 0.020" over bore. The 67-75s block being the best. I am not sure if there was a preferred year for material composition. However, you should look at the core shift on any block you are consideri...
