Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)

My shifter inserts finally arrived from Brewers. Installed them along with the shifter. Dec 10th (1).jpg But I thought I would glue the bottom ring to the bellows for ease of installation. Dec 10th (3).jpg So, in the meantime I thought I would tackle getting my front runner Welds cleaned up. I bough...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)

Not bad - but not as nice as the front. Nov 18th (2).jpg Next I bought these to put into the unused lugnut holes. Nov 19 (4).jpg Here they are installed. Nov 19 (5).jpg Finally, I put some temporary front tires on the car as it will be coming off the stands right after the steering column goes in. N...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)

Today I wanted to get the shifter boot mounted. Since I have a pistol grip handle that is designed to go into the bayonet style shifter box I have to mount the handle in the boot, then push the handle into the box. But there was some difficulty in that, so I pulled out the isolator to see if all the...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)

Good thing I have one of these I bought ages ago not thinking I was going to need it. Oct 14th (18).jpg But - it has to be cleaned up and painted before it goes on. So, take the fiber wheel to it and Voila....cleaned up. Oct 14th (19).jpg Oct 14th (20).jpg Next is to get some primer and paint on it ...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)

Get the gearbox rolled into position. I decided to remove the shifter box at this point as it would be easier to install once the transmission was in place. Oct 14th (11).jpg Now bring up the height. Oct 14th (12).jpg Slide her in and do up the fasteners and she's in! Mind you she did fight me the w...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)

I wasn't sure how the reverse light wiring was to be routed - I assumed it went around the shifter box as shown in the last photo. So I had a look in this book for a reference photo. Oct 14th (4).jpg Sure enough, there it is. Oct 14th (5).jpg Next, lets get the gearbox on the jack. Oct 14th (6).jpg ...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)

Next is to install the front flex lines. I bought the kit from fine lines. The rear one is already installed. Now for the front ones. Oct 10th (1).jpg Oct 10th (2).jpg Now the really big job - getting the 4 speed ready to install. First - mount the shifter adaptor. Oct 14th (1).jpg Oct 14th (2).jpg ...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)

Then came the realization that the back end of the car will have to go up as the header collector was touching the underside of the floor pan. Sept 18th, 2023 (31).jpg So now that the body was more level it was time to install the k-member bolts. Sept 18th, 2023 (32).jpg And she finally has an engin...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)

So tonight with the help of my assistant (Many Thanks Hugh) One big hurdle was cleared. It started off by installing the lifting bar on the front of the car. Sept 18th, 2023 (7).jpg Next, getting the hoist in place. Sept 18th, 2023 (9).jpg Next step is lifting the body. Sept 18th, 2023 (14).jpg Then...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner (it's PAINTED!)

After getting all of the required fasteners for the bellhousing I was able to finally install it for good. Sept 18th, 2023 (3).jpg Sept 18th, 2023 (4).jpg I had to install studs to where the 4 speed is mounted to the bellhousing as the threads were buggered up in the aluminum bellhousing, so I had t...
