[quote="471Magnum"]If you want to get pissed off, do it over something important... The same advice my wife gives me on a regular basis  The general interest car mags are partially to blame for this. Re: 72 RR Air Grabber, paint question
I have a '72, 400, lemon twist, air grabber, built after June 22 in St. Louis, non v21-25. There's evidence of one repaint, different color, didn't do the engine compartment, yuck. Scraping the hood paint shows just lemon twist under the repaint, and the cowl never had any blackout. Wonder when they...

Ok, I know this is not relevant but does this also apply to GTX hoods?
Since some of our parts have unknown origins

Re: Rear axle dimensions
If I remember correctly, a mid sixties C body, is the same width as E body, or a little narrower than 71-4 B body. This would give you a little more room for aftermarket wheels. The early 70's C body is WIDER, maybe 1-2 inches than your stock axle. Supposed to be the same width as 71-4 B body wagon....

Re: Rear axle dimensions
This chart is accurate, as far as it goes, but this flange to flange number is for the housing, not the width including axles, and brake drums. You may also need the width between the wheel mounting surfaces. Bottom line, trust no one, measure them yourself! There are at least 3 different C body wid...

Re: spark control computer solid state????
Most people referred to this system, which included the ignition and carburetor, as "Lean Burn" Initially, this was thought to be pretty cool. When first introduced, these cars met emission standards WITHOUT catalytic converters! Eventually the converter was added. If you got a good one, it worked w...

Re: gull wing or go wing?
It's sort a matter of personal preference. I never cared for the '70 style wing because of my age. In other words, being 65. I used to see them on Ford Mustangs first back then, and on the Mercury Cylone Spoiler models. Being a Mopar man, and seeing a Ford wing on a Mopar didn't cut it for me. So n...

Another vote for the gold! I had a '73 Challenger, gold, white interior. The hood had been repainted, and had faded. But the gold paint on the sides, and decklid was amazing for 12 year old paint on a very neglected car. Glad you're keeping it. If anyone gives you grief about the 400, just tell them...

Re: Torsion bar options for 73 up?
Hi, I waited in case anyone else chimed in. I believe the OEM bars were only available in 4 sizes, .92,.94,.96,.98. Yours are probably the .94s if original. Now I would guess that a Road Runner equipped with 318 would have the .96 bars, as would a Satellite equipped with HD suspension, or 400 4v. Or...

Re: electric problems
If you've got a service manual. Double check the wire color, I think it's dark blue. Find the wire at the five wire plug on the control unit that should be "hot" when the key is in the run position. You should have battery voltage here when the key is in the run position. If you don't, this is a pro...

Re: Aluminium 4 speed case strength
I am thinking about taking all the 18 spline parts out of the old cast iron housing and having it put into a later model aluminiul housing. My only question is would it be strong enough. I'm thinking about shaving a few pounds here and there. I think it depends on which case you're talking about. Y...
