Well you're mostly right. Thermoquads became standard in 1972 on the 400 4v engine. The 383 in '71 used a square pattern intake, with either a small Holley or Carter AVS carb.
I'm not sure which o.e.m. style choke thermostat will fit that intake. I'll do a little digging.

'73 style seats in '72 cars
Every once in awhile I see the 6 button pattern, '73 style bucket seats, in a '72 car. Does anyone know if this was a running change during production? Or were both patterns available at the same time? I guess I've only noticed this on bucket seats. I wonder if the bench seats also changed during th...

Re: Steering column
In my experience, '73 up b bodies got the "rag joint". It's because the K member is isolated from the structure of the car with rubber mounts. Now if you replace the mounts with the solid ones, you could eliminate the extra joint.

Re: Need advice from the Nest
Second that on considering using a local shop. A very smart person told me years ago, to think about what happens when there's a problem with a long-distance-purchased major (read costly to ship) component. I countered with " but a local shop may not be helpful either". He responded with "yeah, but ...

Re: Engine paint colour
You're correct about the 360, I assumed a clone builder was trying to duplicate the appearance of a '71 340 RR engine compartment. My hunch was that either color could be correct in 1971. And Gionni thanks for verifying that this is what was in your car! Did you notice if your engine had the high co...

Re: Engine paint colour
Back in the early '80s a friend and I went to look at a '71 'Cuda. The 340 in the car was blue! Well we didn't buy the car 'cause we thought it had the "wrong motor"! Since then, I've seen several magazine features that show blue 340s, they claim that late '71 E-bodies came that way. I've since foun...

Re: Engine paint colour
Hey, I don't know if this applies to Road Runners, but some late '71 e-bodies had blue 340's in them. I remember looking at a '71 'Cuda back in the early '80s that was so equipped. I've since seen some magazine cars where this is pointed out. One local expert claims the engines were in fact '72 spec...

Re: Which RR Nest members have the latest car birthdays 71-7
Ok, I'm new here and this is something I've been curious about. I am missing the fender tag, original engine, and haven't found a broadcast sheet. I do have the original 4 speed, the date on it is 6/6/72. The last seven of the VIN is G219059. One door glass also has a June 72 date code. So, what is ...
