Re: Finally scored a real RM23
Not arguing the existance of the combination. Just sharing the documentation that would seem to indicate deluxe seats required A87.

Re: Finally scored a real RM23
Welcome to the Nest and congratulations! A87: - it's not possible to tell you what seat covers you should have from just the A87 code. The seat covers were completely dependent on the 4 digit interior code. No. A87 Decor Group did get you the deluxe H2## seats and associated door panels. (edit) H2 ...

Re: charger site
Very nice car, and it looks like you got it for a very fair price.
Definitely stop in over at DodgeCharger.com and introduce yourself if you haven't already. I haven't owned a Charger in several years, but I'm still a regular visitor over there. Great site with a great bunch of guys on board.

Re: original paint color for 383 engine?
If it's really turquoise, it's a 383 from an earlier model year. Turquoise was phased out during the 1970 model year. 383 4BBL A/C cars tended to get turquoise or blue engines, although there have been exceptions noted. Note that turquoise tends to fade to a light blue and often gets mistaken of the...

Re: original paint color for 383 engine?
Is it an A/C car? Is it blue or turquois? Check the vin stamp and casting numbers.
Several potential explanations, but best not to speculate without the above info.

Re: Rear tail light issue
There is a ground lead screwed to the body inside the trunk. Next to the side marker if I recall correctly Make sure it is in good contact.
What you are describing is what happens when you don't have a good ground. The running lights ground themselves by back feeding through the turn signal circuit.

Go with your first hunch. Check the ground.
