Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner
Due to the intense heat, the compressor is pushing out air filled with water vapor. That in turn is clogging up the blasting gun. Also the recycled glass is starting to clump up. With all those issues the blasting has been slow going. But I did manage to get more of it done. May 28 (7).jpg Here, I a...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner
Continuing on with blasting. I've stopped using sand - it's too dusty.
I've switched over to recycled glass, a 30 to 60 grit grade. Much less dust. I'm blasting the rear shock mount cross-member. I'm seeing some part number stampings

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner
So I got a little more done. I ended up pitching the little spot blaster. It would not get into the tighter areas very well. With the reservoir on the top, you couldn't turn the gun at any angle or the sand would stop flowing. So I went and bought a portable 2.5 gallon kit. This one works much bette...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner
So now I'm going back to the front part of the car to where the front torque boxes sit. I decided to buy a spot sandblaster gun. spot blaster. JPG I want clean up the are where the torque box will go as it won't be accessible once the torque box goes in. So I borrowed my good friends portable air co...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner
Thanks rr6pak - I've been trying to get into the garage and work on her every weekend, but am currently helping my wife getting her parents condo ready to sell as they were recently moved into an extended care home. They are both 88 years young. Once it's sold and the dust settles, I'll have a regul...

The frame connectors look good as do the torque boxes.

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner
So after a brief hiatus, I'm back at it. I mentioned in the past about this weird bracket that was on the frame rail. Feb 25 (17).jpg I decided to remove it. Now I know why it was there in the first place......to cover up 2 holes. Feb 25 (2).jpg So a while ago I bought a rear frame cap that Au...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner
rr6pak, I agree with you - it would be a great idea to sand blast it. But you know the ol' saying "Champagne taste, beer budget" that's me. My air compressor is in the garage that's attached to the house & it's about 100ft. from my garage that the Runner is in. I don't have my big garage properly wi...

So now that I have this attaching picture thing worked out, back to this thread. So in December, more scraping and undercoating removal. Here's the passenger side front corner. 20171201_194832.jpg Not very exciting pics here. Just the clean-up of that area. 20171202_120411.jpg Here's the cleaned up ...
