Re: Need help with engine numbers matching

I wouldn't worry about it - it's cast iron we are talking about here. If you are worried about using the wire wheel on it, don't use a steel one, use a brass one. Should take the paint off without any risk of damage the cast iron. Glad you are here. Being a bit of a black hole is the only way to lea...

Re: Need help with engine numbers matching

With a scheduled production date of September 1970, a block with a July 1970 casting date would be about right. 1 - 2 months lead time from the scheduled production date to the block casting tends to be what I've seen. Silly part is, I've never looked at the date on my SSP (an August 1970 build date...

Re: Thanks to many

Congrats on the cool ride, not to mention the awesome plate you secured for it! I'm sure you are going to have a lot of fun with that one!

Re: 1971 Satellite Image

Wow! That's amazing! Very cool work there. A bit of trivia, it was the very happy owners of a 71 Satellite 4dr that set in motion the events that eventually gave birth to the Nest. :) Friends up the street from my parents purchased a B5 4dr brand new in early 71, and told my parents how happy they w...

Re: A mixed bag, but at least some progress

That's looking pretty good there. sogtx! That is going to be one heck of a cool ride when you get it done. As an update on Blue Bird (gosh, I should probably actually update the project journal... lol) I did finally get through cleaning up the sunroof tracks. The long side tracks were the worst of e...

Re: Road Runner Cruising "Brick in the wall"

Looks like a fun ride!

Your daughter is cute and like mine - worried that she'll forget how to talk if she stops for 30 seconds.. hehehe

By the way - do they make lighter camcorders? ;)

Re: 1973 road runner SUPERBIRD

Wow. Very... ummm... interesting.

I'll bet aero-wise, it's worse than a stock 73/74, and really, that nose is just ugly. Great color combination at least.

71 Tail Light Housing Sockets

Hey all! Does anybody have a source for the sockets for the tail light housings on a 71? I'm working on the ones for Project Blue Bird, and found that the original sockets were in pretty bad shape. My best / only solution is to replace them and effectively rebuild the harnesses. Yes, while I'm at it...

Re: Lifted rear end question

I guess it all depends on how wide you want to go. I have 295-50-15s for Project Blue Bird. I had a set of wheels made up with 4.75" backspace which pretty much has the rim dead center in the wheelhouse. With the 295's, I have 3/4" clearance to the spring. Matter of fact, I did my trial test on my S...

Re: A mixed bag, but at least some progress

Yes - mine are originally a natural / polished finish. It is the difference between the manual and power setups. The manual setups (available 73/74 and beyond)were still made by ASC, but were installed at the factory. The power setups (available 71/72) were installed by ASC as well - hence the requi...

A mixed bag, but at least some progress

Since getting home from Carlisle, I've been out in the shop almost every evening doing at least a little something on Project Blue Bird. Yes, thanks to hanging out with Gary and Pam, I've gotten inspired to get back out there and work on what I can - even though time and money are both pretty tight....

Yea, $100 for that package is a great price. eBay isn't a bad option to make stuff go away when you need it to. ;)

Re: Mid-Ohio Mopar Meet July 25, 09

Yea, it was a great day. Of course, with the way the day started, I wasn't thinking sunscreen at all, and came home with burned arms and neck, but it was worth it. Some really neat cars out there, and MOM put on a great show. Looking forward to next year! Got home last night and finished up the poli...

Re: Mid-Ohio Mopar Meet July 25, 09

Strike that - just called up there, guess it's on, rain or shine. Based on what I'm seeing on the radar right now, looks like we've got a few hours of decent weather ahead. I think I'll risk it. Grab a bunch of towels and tuck them in the trunk. ;)

Re: Mid-Ohio Mopar Meet July 25, 09

Satellite got her new windshield yesterday, and got a bath and everything this morning, but alas it looks to be a rain out on the day. :( Hey Ctown - is there a rain date planned? BTW, I'm most likely going to be out in the shop working on stuff for Project Blue Bird most of the day now. If you are ...
