Re: Carlisle 2011

I'll be there with Lynne and the girls. Unfortunately neither of my 71s will make it. Unfortunately this year has just been crazy, and it wasn't a sure thing that we were even going to make it until a week ago. Going to drive out in the 300, so at least I'll have a Hemi car there. :)

Drooling is an understatement - perfect motor, perfect color - couldn't ask for more! Very sweet car.

Re: 1971 RL21 Satellite dash

There aren't any RL21's for the 71 model year. There were cars with the coupe package (A93, if I remember correctly), but they carried an RH23 VIN for whatever reason. That said, the 71 coupes did have the black plastic insert - with the raised center area like the 72s. :-) They also had a unique gr...

Re: Which RR Nest member has the earliest car birthday?

My SSP's birthday is 8/20/1970. I couldn't let Eric own an earlier car than I had. ;-)

Re: '72 Road Runner M25 Rocker Panel Mouldings

Yea, that 71 SSP pieces are very close to the same width as the GTX ones, but have a completely different style. Here's a quick shot of the leading end of the passenger side from my SSP.

Re: Pozzi for 73-74 RR

Just as a point of reference - 71/72s used a different sized alignment pin on the spring perch than the 73/74s. Obviously not a major challenge to overcome swapping from one to the other, but an important note. Sitting here, I can't remember which was larger vs. smaller - but I THINK 73/74s were lar...

Re: What's The Story W/ This SSP?

Mike, I hope you didn't take my comments as directed specifically at you. That wasn't my intent at all. Your GTX is an amazing find, and I couldn't be more excited for you with the deal you got on it! Like you've observed, it may have tainted your views on this one a bit. Admittedly mine probably ar...

Re: What's The Story W/ This SSP?

Before we all go too far down the "this guy's an idiot" route, let's look past the marketing hype of the auction text, and look at the car itself. From the pics, it seems like a fairly solid, #'s matching big block SSP with a desirable (and uncommon for an SSP) original color. Sure, it's not a highl...

Re: Finally Paint! (Updated 12/20/10)

Well, if we are going to add links to interviews with John Herlitz, we might as well mention this one:

That was one of the coolest days of my life! Bruce even got a voice mail from Mr. Herlitz that day if I remember correctly.

Re: Sunroof, no sunroof, vinyl top, or not...

Probably one of the easiest ways to determine if it was a factory sunroof is to look at the dimensions of the opening. Stock ones were honestly huge. I don't know specifics on the 73/74s, but the 71/72 cars were in the ballpark of 19.5" x 43". However, I believe that in 73/74 the sunroofs were done ...

Welcome to the Nest!

Looks like a pretty decent starting point there. Picking up an original 440 car makes it absolutely worth putting time and energy into!

Re: map light ,cigar light, glove box light

On your map light, that 3 pin male connector is a junction point to a little secondary harness with those bullet style connectors on the other end to interface with the main dash harness. There's no magic to it - so I'm sure you can build your own to connect as the original did. I'll have to dig a b...
