Re: 72 RR Air Grabber, paint question
Chances are they were left over '71 hoods used on the early '72 RRs. Which would explain why an early car article would have a '72 RR in it with the black on the hood. Just like early '72 RRs tend to have the '71 decklid with the cutout holes in the bracing for a rear wing which wasn't an option in ...

Re: Roadrunner in Dukes of Hazzard movie!
Looks to me like they didn't quite get the front corners of the hood fixed right. Which you can see when you look at the hood when the "Road Runner" is backing out of the garage. Sort of like that old saying. You know, the one where if you put lipstick on a pig. Is it still a pig?

Re: paint code HT8
HT8 in 1972 for the Road Runner line is referred to as Chestnut Metallic. I like it, but I have a friend who's changing his to Sassy Grass Green ("Green Go") because he doesn't like that original color. There's way more '72 RRs repainted SSG than there are HT8 Runners out there.

Re: gull wing or go wing?
It's sort a matter of personal preference. I never cared for the '70 style wing because of my age. In other words, being 65. I used to see them on Ford Mustangs first back then, and on the Mercury Cylone Spoiler models. Being a Mopar man, and seeing a Ford wing on a Mopar didn't cut it for me. So na...

Re: 1972 satellite sebring plus
EVERYONE seems to have a black or white interior. You seldom see the gold interiors, and it's nice to see something different for a change. People will be talking about your car long after they've seen one with either a black or white interior in it. Fresh gold paint looks real good, especially if i...

Re: 1972 RR color code question
Fortunately for me Eric I bought my first Superbird back in 1975. They weren't as expensive as they are now. I don't have one anymore. No, I don't miss not having a winged car. I do get tired of people saying, "Oh, don't you wish you still had yours? They're worth sooo much money!" I will admit that...

Re: 1972 RR color code question
Eric, I have so far 339 VINs for 1972 Road Runners, of which 69 are Road Runner/GTXs. I'm a dinosaur in that I have them written down on 3x5 file cards! I started out years ago recording the VIN data for the 1969 Charger 500s, Daytonas & Superbirds for the Winged Warriors club which I started. Guys ...

Re: finally... the stroker lives!
I know I've met guys over the years who claimed they had a good running stock '72 400 RR back then. But out here in southern California we used to say that the reason Chrysler didn't put the 400 engine numbers on the cars in 1972 is that they themselves were embarrased at the performance of the 400....

Re: 1972 RR color code question
I have 8 serial numbers for HB-1 Blue Sky '72 RRs. All of them have blue interiors, except for one which is a white bench seat interior. Some made in St. Louis, and some in Canada, 340 & 400 models. Maybe there's a couple of others in my list of serial numbers, but these are the only cars I have dat...

Re: Bench front seats
Yes they will interchange. I bought a '72 Satellite Sepring Plus once to pull the front seat out of it to install in my '72 RR. I put the bench seat out of the RR into the Satellite, and sold it. I also changed the trunk lids because the Satellite was an early build, and had the trunklid with the cu...

Re: Fender Tag
I hear ya. Which is the reason I never use a hose when I'm washing my car. Naturally it takes me longer using the sponges cloths, and a couple of buckets of water. But I don't want to risk getting water in places that over time can do damage. When I was young I used to wax my car everyday. Yeah, it'...

Re: Fender Tag
My bad, I meant M31 molding. Living in so. California generally we don't think in terms of rust when it comes to holes in the body on a car that spends most of its time out of the elements in the garage when it's not being used. But after seeing what moisture can do in other parts of the country. Es...

Re: Fender Tag
Generally the majority of the 72 RR/GTXs have buckets & deluxe trim. But when you run into a naked one, it's sort of a jolt. Here's numbers for one that was on ebay in the last couple of years. Pretty rusty, and needed complete restoration: E86 D21 RM23 U2G 184136; GF7 B2F6 GF7 403 313008; GF7 U M21...

Re: Fender Tag
You may think that because a '72 RR is a RR/GTX model that it has a higher trim level. Such is not the case. I've got serial numbers for '72 RR/GTXs that have the base el cheapo bench seat interior in them. It's the 440 in the car that makes it a RR/GTX (serial numbered), nothing else.
