Where do these pieces go?
The 2 sheet metal pieces and the rubber piece came with my '71, loose in the trunk with other junk. The rubber piece looks like typical splash protection in the found in the front wheel houses. The sheet metal - ??? Anyone recognize these? Get me pics showing where they go and orientation and fasten...

Re: For the love of the birds....
Think he meant the NZ government. So try Auckland or Christchurch for those rallyes. Might be easier just to emigrate to the US of A. I think Obama and the INS are running a special. If you can find your way in illegally, by any means necessary, we'll start you on the road to citizenship. I'd sugges...

Re: Help With My "New" 71 GTX
Just for the record, that was not meant to be a slam on SSPs. I would have been just as happy with an SSP - maybe even happier at about half the price. Plenty of money left for engine mods, etc.

Re: PG Classic Air Grabber Bubble & Door
I had some issue with them a couple years ago. Ordered a pair of seat belt/retractors. They sent me ones that didn't fit. I called and argued. They insisted I had the wrong ones in my car and theirs were right. After much gnashing of teeth, the agreed to take them back, but I had to pay shipping. Th...

I don't think it was St. Claire Shores, but it was close to there. Owner's name was Brian. Tall guy, maybe 6' 4" or so.

Should I Have Passed On This One?
I did. Wondering if I should have. In late February 2010 I looked at this survivor 71 SSP in a northern suburb of Detroit. Pretty much no rust and original except as follows: 15" Rallyes traded for 14", but 14" were kept 383-2V intake removed in favor of 4V, but 2V was kept half vinyl top painted? w...

Re: 71B Heater/defrost cable
Yes, the 72 is different. If you'd like, I can send a .pdf file of the 71 service manual section for heaters. Send me a private mail including a email address where I can send the PDF.

Re: Engine size question
That looks good Jeff. Welcome to the nest from another recent newbie. The casting number doesn't lie - it's a 400. A 440 would automatically make it a Roadrunner GTX,I do believe. I had a 400 RR long ago. Not quite the brute that a 440 was, but a Roadrunner nevertheless. Hard to tell from the pic - ...

Too Much Time On My Hands
One day I was sitting around wondering "how do you go about selecting the right carburetor size for a given engine?". That ultimately lead to a spreadsheet calculator into which you plug in engine displacement, assumed volumetric efficiency and a series of RPM values, and voila - out come CFM number...

Re: 71B Heater/defrost cable
I'm attaching a screen cap from a 1972 service manual. I expect 71 is the same, but cannot verify until I get home to check. Circle W & Z -- one clip anchors the cable to the plenum, and another clip attaches it to the arm that moves the door -- either heat/defrost or hot/cool blend. Where to find C...

Good price if not beat up. I'd have to call Classic tomorrow to see if my order can be canceled.

Re: Is This Hood Latch / Release Correct?
Thanks, Larry. I have one on backorder from Classic Industries. Perhaps I could cancel that. The correct one for a 71 is the chromed handle that sits horizontally. Is that what you have? If so, how much do you want for it? Send via private mail if you prefer. I don't care either way.

Re: 71 Hemi air cleaner
Probably a pre-formed hose was used. Similar issue with my 'cuda. Since I didn't care about correctness, I used plastic fittings along with segments of hose to get the right shape.
