Hope you plan on redoing the rest of the front suspension. You should take everything apart glass bead it paint it with all new suspension parts. One thing i hate to see is a car that looks good on the outside but they forget to do the underside. I agree. I can't seem to "fit" a picture to my post....

If you don't have holes for the can, the car didn't have it. If your car has A/C, then more than likely it had a cable going to the water valve which would be on the passenger side of the engine compartment.
