Re: 1971 SSP Project

Dave, you've done a lot of work in a short time (your first post for this thread was Jan 1st) are you doing this on your own?
I've been at mine since last Christmas and are nowhere near what you have accomplished.
Tell us your secret.

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner

Thanks nakita7, So to update from my last post, I ground down the spot-welds and applied some all-metal putty. Dec 4 (3).jpg Then get the all-metal sanded down and prep for primer. Dec 4 (7).jpg and shoot some primer. Dec 4 (9).jpg Next it's on to doing a fit-check on the US car tool inner fender br...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner

Ok so this weekend is the weekend I end up with a head cold - crap.
But I still got a chance to weld up the drivers side inner fender.

Next step is to clean up the welds and put on a little putty.

Welcome to the board!! - a lot of good information is found here.
Every body has their own pace when it comes to restoration.
Take the restoration I'm doing right now - slow and somewhat steady ... :D

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner

So continuing on, I had a small spot on the rad support to put some metal prep on and finish it up.
Oct 23 (2).jpg
Then I primered the drivers side rad support.
Oct 23 (7).jpg
Next is to fit-check the inner fender and plug weld it in.

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner

O.K. after taking little break (like going for 2 weeks to my home country of Croatia) I'm back working on the car. After some more investigation and getting another k-member to use as reference, it turns out that both engine mount perches have been moved. So therefore I will be getting another k-mem...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner

So this weekend was able to get some Zero rust paint on the frame rail. August 14 (3).jpg And was also able to finish the firewall on the drivers side. August 14 (9).jpg So now I can go back and concentrate on the engine mount. I was able to see the K-member in a 1969 Charger and took some measureme...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner

The more I look at it rr6pak the more I think it's been relocated. Here's a really good pic of a nice K-member. 20160329_142120_zpsidyin9ko.jpg-original.jpg See the drivers side mount - the location looks different than mine. But until I get some real world measurements, I won't know for sure. But I...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner

A few pictures of my small block K-frame in my thread. I think there is no difference between small block and big block for these. http://www.roadrunnernest.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5152 Thanks Scott  I had a look in your thread and saved a couple of your pictures to my computer, I will ...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner

The welds might be factory. You have to remember the factory wouldn't spend a large amount of time for something like this. "Just get the part out the door" kind of mentality. My K looks the same, least did before I stiffened it up[/quote] I hope your K-member looks better than this. August 1st (1)....

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner

Moparite - the front suspension was done by the previous owner who had it as a drag car. I have all new rubber bushings and new torsion bars on it. Believe me, once all the body and paint are done, the underside of the k-member and suspension components will be detailed. I did it the same way on my ...

Re: Startin to work on the Clone Runner

More deconstruction today. No more drivers side inner fender. July 24 (5).jpg Now onto the K-member. I took some pics of the drivers side engine mount area, it looks like it was modified by all of the crappy welds around it. July 24 (6).jpg July 24 (3).jpg So I cleaned up all of the grease that the ...

Scored some nice white interior panels

Answering a Kijiji ad from a guy who is parting out a 1971 Road runner. He sent me pics of the interior panels. I'm looking for a set of white interior panels to go along with my hounds tooth seats. So I bought the panels from him along with a beautiful trunk lid and driveshaft (which I needed as we...
