Re: Inherited 1972 Roadrunner/GTX 440
Looks like 6254 to me, indeed very rare. Remember only 212 four speeds on the Plymouth side that year, similar number for Dodge, would have had that carburetor originally. Close up also reveals quite a bit of rust and corrosion, not sure it is rebuildable in a standard way, may require a restoration...

Re: Inherited 1972 Roadrunner/GTX 440
I see a lot of very rare ’72 440 HP parts there, especially the Holley 4160. Should be list number R-6254A or R-6252A, have it correctly rebuilt. If you change it out, save it, very scarce. As for the pictured rust, to correctly repair, there will be some metal replacement, no point in spending a bu...

Re: time to check heater core and expansion valve
Piecing together a R134 system on this car, including fabricating the mounting brackets. Bought a complete under hood kit from Bouchillon Performance for the RR/GTX resto a few years back, pretty happy with it other than the all rubber hoses included. Fabricated hard lines for that project. http://i...

Re: time to check heater core and expansion valve
First, let’s get the terms correct, in this post and a previous one, you refer to an “expansion valve”, it appears you are talking about the heater control valve. The expansion valve is part of the A/C system, is a different part altogether. Heater control valves in ’72 are cable controlled directly...

Re: 1972 Road Runner/GTX restoration
Looks very nice! Are you the original owner? 4 or 5 of these in Port Angeles you say, in the almost 10 years I’ve had mine, I‘ve run in to maybe 2 other ‘72s locally, was beginning to think mine may be the only “U”-code in the state. The half vinyl top mush be available somewhere, that self-describe...

Re: 1972 Road Runner/GTX restoration
Thanks, Welcome to the Nest. Post some pics of your car when you can. Not far from me? Where abouts? This one started out EV2, friend in High school showed up one day with a brand new ’72 GA4 RR/GTX N96 4-speed-Dana, been hooked on them ever since.

Re: 72 Roadrunner Parts Color Questions
Have to disagree a bit on that ’72 grill color being used anywhere else. Front turn signal surrounds are regular Argent Silver. The Satellite tail light surrounds are a dark grey, black for the lens used on Road Runners.

Re: Aluminum Radiators
I have an original rad from a ’72 b-body 318 with air. In very good shape when removed, 26” two row I believe. Would be willing to part with it, unfortunately shipping may kill you, looks like you are on the opposite coast. http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd81/dewilkinson/Diagrams/DSC00046_1.jpg

Re: apologize as I will have questions for you guys
1. Fuel tank filler neck support 2. Center front bumper to header panel bracket. 3. & 4. ’71-early ‘72 left rear wheel well fuel tank vapor separator/expansion tank mounting brackets, repos? Regulators changed in ’73, fronts will interchange with ’71, rears won’t directly interchange. Can’t just rem...

Re: 72 Roadrunner Grille Paint ????
As far as I’m concerned, the information I posted back in ’09 stands, SEM 39023 is still the closest to the NOS pieces I used. Whatever you do, don’t fall for the Argent Silver solution, it’s not correct. I’m running a NOS honeycomb as well, finish on it is a dark grey IIRC. I’ll post a current clos...

Re: Decode Question
“M” vin engine code corresponds to the E63 fender tag code as a 400 2bbl. Sounds like the spreadbore intake and TQ are not original and added at some point. If it was original, the codes would be E68 on the tag and VIN would have a “P” where the “M” is. The 400 would have a different cam, HP exhaust...
