The bracket riveted to the bottle came that way when you got the bottle. Here is a link of repo brackets.

The 72 tank mounted next to the battery on 2 brackets attached to the upper radiator support and lower radiator mountning bolt

I used to own 1 just like it that I restored in the 90's, it was in like 4 magazines. Mine was a 400 auto also. I put the strobe and front Tank track stripes because it was such a light color I thought it looked better.

I will say it should be White with Black numbers, I only asked since you said 100% original if it was repainted I am sure someone picked the black since they liked it against the orange color.

They will fit the same but they have different trunk locks. 71-72 use the clip, 73-74 use big nut and have a bigger hole.
