Re: 71 GTX trunklid
I figured it would be easy enought to find a nice replacement, but not so... After attending the two biggest Mopar shows this season at Carlisle and the Nats and after looking at maybe 20 lids, most were '72-up and only three were for the '71 model year! I ended up scoring two of them at the Mopar N...

71 GTX trunklid
My '71 GTX project happens to be a pretty straight and clean original metal car, however, it had it's share of rodents living it during it 27 years of storage in Northern Virginia  The rodents decided to make nests in the corners of the trunklid and their acidic urine sure made a mess of the ...

Re: Air grabber flapper resto
NOrrTH, No need to despair, it actually is a relatively easy project. More time consuming than anything elese while waiting for the parts to come back from replating. The material cost is low, the correct paint from RestoRick is $25. for the 1/2 pint can and the plating work was probably around $50....

Re: 72 Satellite pics
Nice project! I love to buy them like that with low to no rust, it is nice not to have to worry about the Chinese metal on your car BTW- if you have a well ventilated area, a propane torch makes undercoating removal a real breeze along with a scraper

Re: Air grabber flapper resto
As mentioned, I sent the parts to RestoRick to have him chemically test the parts for the correct plating as my parts had oxidized enough to make the right plating type hard to determine. The main rod, spring return bracket, the actuator bracket, and the hinge arms were all black zinc. The roll pins...

Air grabber flapper resto
Here is one of the little projects that I have finished so far :D The GTX is an original N96 car, and I want the hood to look and function as new, so I decided to rebuild/replate every part of the assembly. The actuator is going to be sent out to Wilson's for a rebuild and all of the related hardwar...

Re: 71 GTX throttle cable bracket?
Hey Nick, that would be great! The more info, the better Was the '71 RT a Lynch Rd A-plant car? Maybe that made a difference? Both of the '71 Chargers I have owned were missing the OEM covers when I got them, so I don't know what was on them originally.

Re: request for participation
Another 4 sp '71 GTX.... if we keep going like this we are going to have to petition to have the name of the web site changed to 'GTX nest'. :D The more the merrier... you should make a new thread and show us some pics and tell us about your car. I'm not sure if I have seen yours on moparts before ...

Re: 71 GTX throttle cable bracket?
Thanks guys! The '71 GTX that the engine pictured above was removed from was a Febuary built car according to Eric, so now all I have to do is use one of the '70 valve covers I have stock piled

1971 GTX engine 1G161385
Wanted: the original 440 out of my '71 GTX VIN RS23U1G161385 If it still exists, I would bet it is in the DC/Northern Va area. Please check the VIN #'s on any G440HP blocks that you may know of  The car is black/black with a console 4-spd and air grabber hood with the front and rear spoiler pa...

Re: request for participation
New guy here as well, I am a longtime Moparts member and I try to contribute when and where I can. I have had many Mopars over the last 20 years, but they have mostly been '70 'Cudas and Challengers with a bunch of pre '71 B-bodies mixed in. Although, I have owned 2 '71 RR's and a couple of '71 Char...

71 GTX throttle cable bracket?
Hi Guys, Newbie here with a question about which throttle cable bracket and left valve cover is correct for my '71 GTX factory 4-spd car with a Scheduled Production Date of C17 (December 17th 1970)? I just picked up a completely rebuilt G440HP2 engine that came out of a parted '71 automatic equipped...
