Re: Using 71 quarter glass in a 72

Yeah, surprised me too! The pics I have of the 72 glass extends next to and below the carrier assy by a lot whereas the 71 glass sits in the carrier. Seems really strange to have made that change. Guess it was cheaper somehow?

Using 71 quarter glass in a 72

Hi, Trying to figure out what all needs to swap in the quarter window mechanism in order for someone to use '71 quarter windows in a '72 RR. I didn't realize they were different until recently. The glass carrier assy is definately different (I have pics of the 72 carrier assy). What's the extent of ...

Re: Map light lenses and assemblies

Thank you!!! I appreciate the offer! I'll let you know if there's some aspect of the samples that I've sent that's causing the manufacturer problems or not showing detail good enough. On the plastic types we were talking about before, it sounds like the original blank panel was ABS. The original map...

Re: Map light lenses and assemblies

Any info you can get would be appreciated. I'm not sure what my options are... I'll inquire about that. Any idea what the original part would've been made from and how it compares to materials today?

Thanks!
Jeff

Re: Map light lenses and assemblies

Thanks folks! Sounds like we'll pursue the 2 position setup. I really appreciate the feedback on this! As for plastic, its an ABS plastic. I'm not an expert by any means as to if there are different grades though. Regarding the bulb heat, the bulb holder that's going into the new assemblies will sup...

Re: Map light lenses and assemblies

Question for folks on the switch. The proto doesn't have the wiring terminals installed in the switch, so perhaps that's the reason for this, but it acts like a two position switch. I would always mess with these to get the switch to stop in the middle so the light didn't ever come on. Was the switc...

Re: Map light lenses and assemblies

Got the first couple of base protos this week (a blank and a lighted base w/ fader hole). Next step is texture matching and moving on to the lens. The detail is matching GREAT. Only difference is the bulb mount. The switch assy is dead on. Dimensionally excellent. Slightly stiffer than an original p...

Re: Map light lenses and assemblies

Going forward with the project! Best case scenario is 3-4 months. Break even pricing at this point is looking like $xxxxx for the full assembly (light/lens/switch/wiring/connector/screws) and $xxxxxx for a blank panel ... all barring any unforeseen disasters and assuming I did my math right

Map light lenses and assemblies

Hi, I'm getting tooling costs for having the 71/2 map light lens assemblies reproduced, and I'm looking for any input anyone may have on this. For now, I'm looking at the base 71/2 part and not later versions with the seat belt warning display. I have costs associated with the base/lens/bulb holder,...

Re: New AMD full quarters on 71 Roadrunner

I can't say for sure on that piece in particular. Anything like that though is definately worth tossing them an email or giving them a call to see if they're looking for that piece. Even if they're not now, they may soon be looking for it (if enough folks keep asking for it). I know in general they ...

Thanks Bruce! Yep, one measly post :) I'll try harder to think of something. Actually there is something I need to post about, so I might be up to 3 in no time at all! :D

Re: New AMD full quarters on 71 Roadrunner

They're still looking for good original pieces to make tooling off of... I was told this was a project for late next year.
