I've been really tempted to order the 17" Rallyes. I've actually got my 15" Telstars for sale to finance the purchase.

Re: 72 RR Air Grabber, paint question

I guess what I'd really like to see then is the drawing that shows the 72 V21 stripes. That seems to be the missing piece of the puzzle.

Re: 72 RR Air Grabber, paint question

There is V21 thread going on Moparts. Covering all models. These two documents were posted. I can't read the revision block on the drawing which is for the 71 model year, but updated for 72. Could delete or continue the paint behind the bubble. No telling if it was the last revision. The 72 body man...

Re: Magnum Wheel Size

I think huge rims really look stupid, especially on classic cars. I second that. I agree with that to a point. In too many instances, people use a late modern style wheel with the wrong offset (usually a Mustang wheel) and it comes off as a glaring anachronism. Done right with no more than a 17" or...

Re: Magnum Wheel Size

15x7 works fine for anything up to 275-60-15, although I prefer 8's with that size. 255-60-15 will work on all four corners if you want to go with the same size all around. They work fine on 7s or 8s. I think the 255's look a bit excessive up front though. 235-60-15 is the closest to the factory 15"...

Re: Am I just being too picky?

If you want to get pissed off, do it over something important...

Like Dodges being equipped with "Air Grabbers". They're Ram Chargers. Duh!

Don't get me started on Hemi Orange Plymouths.

Need I go on?

Re: 72 RR Air Grabber, paint question

Chances are they were left over '71 hoods used on the early '72 RRs. Which would explain why an early car article would have a '72 RR in it with the black on the hood. Just like early '72 RRs tend to have the '71 decklid with the cutout holes in the bracing for a rear wing which wasn't an option in...

Re: 72 RR Air Grabber, paint question

I don’t doubt there were N96 cars produced with the black out, particularly early SPD cars (such as Larry’s). The question is really whether they represent the rule or the exception. I suspect the elimination of the paint was a running change. Since the painted hoods aren’t an inventoried part, ther...

I've seen white stripes too, but I've never confirmed they were original.

Engineering documentation (attached) shows only one part number for the stripes.

Re: 72 RR Air Grabber, paint question

Paint on non-V21/V25 cars? Don't have a original paint car to reference, but I'd swear I'd seen the factory documentation that does not indicate paint in that area on any 72.

On 72, body color.

71's w/ V21 got paint behind the bubble.

Re: This isn't supposed to look like this, right?

So what triggered it? Over revved, part failure or questionable guide clearance?

Re: This isn't supposed to look like this, right?

That's not good.

How does the piston look? Everything else stay together? Did the push rod and lifter stay in place?

Re: 383 six pack setup with air grabber

Since the factory never produced a 383 6V, there are no 383 6V air grabber base plates. You'll have to use a 440 base plate. 440 (and 340) 4V air grabber base plates are shorter that 383 base plates. This being the case, I would expect you to have plenty of clearance with a 440 6V base plate on a 38...
