Re: Finally Taking The Plunge
After a little more examination of the work previously done, I decided to go ahead and do a full quarter panel replacement on both sides. The quarters a re supposed to be delivered this Friday, so I imagine it won't be long after I start to remove the old ones. Pics to follow.b I did a fair amount o...

Can't help with the registry or production numbers.
Nice find, but it's a PLYMOUTH, and therefore Tor-red. Welcome to the Nest.

Re: Finally Taking The Plunge
Thanks for the reference. I wasn't aware of this outfit. The pic they show looks like they are missing the bottom section and flange, but some of these outfits use a "typical" pic instead of actual. Note that they don't actually have any on hand. I guess I'll call them and ask for better info. As it...

Finally Taking The Plunge
I bought this numbers-matching, no-fender-tag-or-build-sheets 71 GTX in late 2012, knowing it was going to be a project even though it was drivable and running (poorly). It had very visible blistering of painted bondo between the wheel wells on the quarters, rockers, doors, and the left fender. A fr...

Re: 71 RR Won't Start...Need Help!
IF your electric choke is not opening, it's an indication that the "ignition" circuit voltage is low. (double check the choke - if it's like most of them, you have to open the throttle initially to set the choke closed, and this also sets the high idle stop on the carb. As you drive and the electric...

Re: GTX emblem retainers
By 1/4 or 5/16", I assume you mean the OD of the "sleeve"? That's might big to be the ID. They tended to use elongated castlenuts for this kind of thing. I haven't looked at my side emblems to see what holds them on, and my interior is in at the moment, but may be back out in less than a month. One ...

Re: glad i found this site
You can use any number of picture processing programs to resize your digital pictures. One of my favorites is Irfanview, a.k.a. I-view, which is freeware and can be downloaded here http://www.irfanview.com/ Under the "IMAGE" tab, select "RESIZE", and select a size that is smaller than the allowable ...

Re: 74 roadrunner 4 speed switch mounting possition
I believe that would be a clutch start switch. I don't have any pics, but someone else here may. Look for a place on the clutch pedal bracket to mount it such that the pedal arm will actuate it. Something like the brake pedal switch. The newest manual I have is 1972. It is mentioned in the service d...

Re: Help
One thing to consider if you find a place to make a tag, aside from possible ethics issues:
The tag has a field for "order number", and you won't know what that is without the build sheet.
How about a 3-D printer?

Send me a Private Mail here including your personal email address and I'll send you the body and frame alignment section. It's only 885 kB. The factory service manuals in PDF can be found at reasonable prices, BUT, the quality of photos vs. how they appear in the original printed manuals leaves a bi...

Re: "Show Car" on fender tag.
Zowie! Exceptionally RARE as a surviving factory show car. I see "RP23", making it a Sebring Plus. If it hasn't been hacked on (modified, cloned, etc.), and retains the original drivetrain, it has potential high value. What a great find. I'm jealous.

Re: door top trim clips
I have an electronic copy of the 1971 parts catalog. Unfortunately, it's fairly cryptic and not good at all with depicting many of the parts. For the door top moldings, it lists 2 "retainers" for each of the Barracuda and the GTX. One of the part numbers is the same and one isn't. For what it's wort...

Re: Steering Column Conversion
In looking at the FSM again a little closer, something is not right in their diagram for Valiant and Satellite. Mine is like the Barracuda, except the "can" isn't telescoping. My steering wheel does not mount from the center, it has 3 studs sticking out of the can that hold it on, using 3 nuts. The ...
