Re: rear sway bar

Agreed, no 71 rear bar from the factory, but you can retrofit a later year one on a 71. Benefits...the car will handle better. I have one on my butterscotch car, and it's a big difference from blue car that doesn't have one. I wasn't the original owner of my '71 RR, but I'm pretty sure my rear sway...

Re: Top Speed 71' Roadrunner

In 1982 I had my '71 RR going down a stretch of highway with my 150 mph speedo pegged. I was racing my best friend in his Mach 1 with a Q code 351C. Lets just say he didn't talk to me for 2 weeks.

Another thing to notice in the picture is that the carb flange does not support the base and is suspended.

Re: V8X stripe question

Just in case this wasn't answered clearly for you, V8X is the code for a black reflective strobe stripe on a 71 road runner. This is the stripe that goes from the quarter panel up and over the roof. The 71 stripe has the words "road runner" cut out in the botton section of stripe and the cartoon bi...

I have to ask why you mention that?
I have older pictures of the "other" stripe you describe on my car.

Re: Front end kit...what did you use?

I did mine last winter. I used all MOOG parts which totaled just over $400. I also upgraded my 11" drums to 11.75" disc using the a body spindles. The car goes straight, handles 10 times better and I don't need two hands on the steering wheel to use the brakes.

Re: 71-72' Front bumper brackets

I just used this to put mine back together after powder coating. Just so I have it right, on the plate mount, the vertical tab points in and the horizontal tab points out?
Thanks,

Re: Is it my Ballast Resistor?

By saying not starting, is it turning over and not starting? or not turning the starter? I had this problem and it was my solenoid(sp?), some time later my starter just kept going, while I was driving, and wouldn't stop until I unhooked the battery.

Thanks for the suggestions! Is there a difference in the different spindles you mention that would give one an advantage over another? I do have 15" wheels, but I don't know where to turn for the parts you mentioned above.

disc brake conversion questions

Hi, i have a '71 Roadrunner with manual drum brakes. I want to switch the front drums to disc. What parts need to be changed? What are my options as far as what will work? I'm planning on using original equipment rotors and calipers for easy future repair and replacement.
Thanks,
Jim

Air Grabber Air Cleaner heights

I have a '71 Roadrunner 440 4v w/ an air grabber. Here's my question: I want to find a way to lower the air cleaner set-up to make room for a 1/2" to 1" spacer under the carb. This will help make my car more street friendly. I know the '71-71 cleaners on 440's are shorter than the 383's. But, any id...
