Not to water this down... But long ago I had a 71 chrgr with sunroof code that didn't have the sunroof at all.. I was told this was somewhat common do to the outsourcing.. The car had 3 tags and was a fleet car.. Numbs matched the body.. Sound plausible?
I put a consle in one of my cars....I mesured for an hour before I cut my parts off... and come to find out there were dimples everywhere all over the tunnel...for line up. hope this helps.....i can get mesurements if neede. one last thing....I have noticed alot of crooked consoles( original factory...

On the subject of using the front fender to patch with....
the lower rear quarter can be patched with the front fender (using the section in front of the wheel) the drivers side will patch the pass side rear...and so on...
