Re: 71 GTX Rocker Molding Attachment

Mine did not have any spring clips, screws only. Countersunk as you mentioned. Don't recall how many but can check if you still need. Just screw into the door skin. Nothing originally between the molding and the paint. We put some tape as a buffer between the molding and the paint when reinstalled t...

Re: Gauge issues

Not sure, I'd have to check with the guy who did the restoration. My gut tells me that's not our issue as they have been working flawlessly since they got the car running a month ago, temp sitting right where you'd expect it to be and the fuel gauge responding accordingly. This all started after the...

Re: Gauge issues

Oil, temp and fuel sending units are new. Found an article on AllPar that said the fuel sending unit should show around 8.5-10.5 ohms when the tank is full. We measured just over 10.

Re: Gauge issues

Gauges are original, fuel sending unit is not. Here is some new info. First off, a mistake on our part. The 4.45 was measured with key on but car not running. With car running it was right at 5. Called Charger Specialties, they said it should be within 4.95-5.05. Said they had never gotten one back ...

Re: Gauge issues

Thanks for the response. I don't think it's the real time brand, no LED indicator light on it. Testing the voltage at one of the gauges we got 4.45. From what I've read it should be 5. Not sure if half a volt is enough to make them read low. Bench testing the old limiter it reads 12 volts so no surp...

Gauge issues

Got the car back together and started and after a few days the gauges all pegged out. Someone suggested changing the voltage limiter on the gauge panel so ordered a new solid state one. It corrected the problem for a few days but now have the opposite issue, the gauges all read low... some barely co...

Re: 1971 GTX St. Louis Production

Hey SteveD,

I just saw last night someone on www.forbbodiesonly.com has a misplaced build sheet for a GY9 G-code GTX. RS23U1G221283. In case that's your car. What a coincidence that would be!

Re: 71 RR/GTX Automatic with A34

Thanks for the info! I'll assume of the 187 a majority were probably 4-spd cars... I like the idea of changing the gearing out. Easier said than done, still have to find one! :) Tony's Parts had one a year or so ago but other priorities for the money at the time.

Re: GY4 interiors

Exterior is Y8 with black vinyl top and black stripes. It's in process so no pictures yet with the correct color. It was gold when I bought it but about 2 shades lighter than correct. I liked it that way as well but I think I'll prefer the Y8.

Re: GY4 interiors

I wasn't too sure about it when I first got my car but it's growing on me. Looks a lot better in that picture with the fresh colors.

71 RR/GTX Automatic with A34

Afternoon all. New to the Nest, thank you for all the great news and information. Can't wait for my car to be back on the road after reading all this stuff. Anyone have an Automatic A34 car or know of any around? I'm curious about how many were made and might be out there. Also curious about what ki...
