WIRING HELP - 1972 RR Headlight Switch Plug

Using Painless Performance harness MOPAR 10127. I have original diagrams color coded for the plug wires in question. I have a photo of the plug itself. I also have wire chart from Painles manual. (These attachments are too big to post on here.) Looking for someone who knows wiring to take a look at ...

Re: 1972 RR - FUSE BOX

Let's say i wanted to put in a voltmeter like you suggested before. I would simply hook up black and red to the voltmeter. My question is: does it hurt anything to run the black/red wires straight through the firewall, bypassing the fuse box? or does the juice need to run thru the fuse box?

Re: 1972 RR - FUSE BOX

The black ammeter wire went to the weld and then on to the fuse box where it continues to the alternator, correct? Can you verify if i can do this: i want to tape the weld back up of just the four pictured wires, bypass the ammeter gauge all together and connect the black alternator wire to the red ...

Re: 1972 RR - FUSE BOX

I have posted two photos. In one of them, I am trying to figure out what the strange connector is called and where i can get a new one. In the other one, i followed the black ammeter lead wire down and it was saudered into a crossroads of four other wires. Is this correct, or is this another rig job...

Re: 1972 RR - FUSE BOX

So you are saying the fuse box is all one piece? I see two big phillips head screws - do i unscrew those to get the fuse box loose, or are you talking about different ones?

1972 RR - FUSE BOX

Looking for an exploded diagram or photo of the main fuse box. Specifically, looking to replace the (interior) wires going into fuse slots 16 & 18. I need to know how the wires connect into the box, how to get access to them and replace the wires.

Re: 1972 Plymouth RR --> HEATER NOT WORKING

I think i'm getting there with all your help - i've replaced a bad starter relay, replaced temp sending unit, oil pressure sender and fuel sender. If i replace the ammeter with a voltmeter, i would have to rip out the ammeter and have a new meter in there that doesn't look like the others. i guess i...

Re: 1972 Plymouth RR --> HEATER NOT WORKING

That jives with what we were thinking - that someone bypassed the ammeter. Why would they do that and how can i put it back the way it's supposed to be?

Re: 1972 Plymouth RR --> HEATER NOT WORKING

I found this wire sort of "rigged" up and it has melted spots. I wonder what this big wire is ... ??

Re: 1972 Plymouth RR --> HEATER NOT WORKING

Ok, then what is this? It's where the temp and oil gauges terminate.

Re: 1972 Plymouth RR --> HEATER NOT WORKING

Ok, I have traced the line we are talking about (fuel gauge) to the second page of the diagram. It terminates into a little box labeled "1". Is this a fuse, resistor or relay?? Then how do i continued tracing the same wire? The fuel gauge has to go to the sending unit, so i'm trying to trace it all ...

Re: 1972 Plymouth RR --> HEATER NOT WORKING

Thank you. I have been studying the wiring diagram. For example, in the photo i've attached, you can see that the fuel gauge wire trails off the page and references a code. What does this mean and where does the wire go? I need help understanding how to read the diagrams.

Re: 1972 Plymouth RR --> HEATER NOT WORKING

Didn't you say the gauge wire colors are printed on the back of the cluster? Do you have a photo? I'm trying not to pull my cluster if i can help it.

Re: 1972 Plymouth RR --> HEATER NOT WORKING

I just want to make sure I know the right colors for which gauges. Sometimes the same wire color appears on the wiring diagram for two different things, and that's confusing.
